David Paul Mink

David Mink was born on March 4, 1955.  He was raised in Taylors Island, Md. by Bill and Betty Shenton.  He was raised with several foster brothers.  One of his foster brothers, Clarence Arthur “Butch” kept in touch with David and was truly his brother.  When Mr. & Mrs. Shenton both passed away, David moved in with Paulette & Gene Cheesman in Hurlock, Md. in 1989.

Mr. & Mrs. Cheesman opened their home to David where he became a part of their family. David was a brother to their two daughters, Janeen and Rebekah. The Cheesman’s considered David a gift to their family and taught them more about love then they could have ever taught him.

David became ill in 2015 and was unable to continue living with the Cheesman’s. He moved into a residential home with Delmarva Community Services, Inc., where he had been a participant in their day program for more than 35 years.  David’s health continued to decline and on May 10th, 2017, he moved to Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Md.  He peacefully passed away there on May 20th, 2017.

David loved music and people, and no one was a stranger. He will be truly missed by all who knew him and the people whose lives he touched with his infectious happiness.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 11:30 am at East New Market Cemetery with Rev. Joel Beiler officiating. Friends will be received at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. from 10 to 11. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Delmarva Community Services, 2450 Cambridge Beltway, Cambridge, MD 21613.
