Debra S. (Smith) Moxey

Debra S. Moxey, 72, of Madison passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 6, 2022 at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Chesapeake Woods with her loving family beside her. She was born in Cambridge on April 13, 1949 and was a daughter of the late Dorance and Betty Jones Smith.

She attended schools in Dorchester County, but was a graduate of Annapolis High School. Mrs. Moxey married Richard R. Moxey who passed away on June 7, 2013. She published The Dorchester County, MD Genealogical Magazine for 19 years and compiled 20 books on Dorchester County Genealogy. Mrs. Moxey was a past member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the War of 1812. She was a member of the Dorchester County Historical Society.

She is survived by two sons Jason Moxey and wife Dania and their children Matthew, Jeremy and Brooke of East New Market and Clint Moxey and wife Stephanie and their children Lillian and Jacob of Woolford, a brother Ernie Smith and wife Ellen of Easton, sister in law Margie DiCamilli and family, special aunt Faye Willoughby, special nieces Lois Knight, Sheila Jenkins and family, and Julie Lichterman and her husband Sean, friends Janet Ruark and family and Linthia Mills and her beloved dog Jake.

Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Moxey is preceded in death by a sister in law Dolores Kollot, a niece Karen Aebersold and a great nephew Branden Aebersold.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 11 am at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Shelley McCollister officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Cambridge Little League, P.O. Box 1275, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to Baywater Animal Rescue, 4930 Bucktown Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
