Dennis E. Baird, 66, of Hurlock passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at his home. He was born in Rupert, Idaho on March 5, 1945 and was a son of the late Edgar A. and Alice Cox Baird.
Mr. Baird attended schools in Idaho. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired in 1982 as a Warrant Officer. On July 3, 1993, he married the former Suzanne Coltman. At his time of his death, he was working for the Black Water Refuge. He enjoyed fishing and his 1966 Ford Mustang convertible. He was a member of the Elks in California where he served as the Exalted Ruler and was a member of the Ducks Unlimited.
He is survived by his wife Suzanne Baird of Hurlock, four children from his first marriage Nathalie Besson of Idaho, Christopher Baird of Georgia, Lydia McKeel of Georgia and Carole Whetstone of Georgia, 9 grandchildren, a brother in law Boyd Groesbeck and three nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Baird is preceded in death by a sister Glenda Groesbeck.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Dale W. Kulp officiating. Family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Shore Harvest Presbyterian Church, 8727-A Brooks Drive, Easton, MD 21601 or to the Friends of Blackwater, 2145 Key Wallace Drive, Cambridge, MD 21613.
