Donald Lance Hill, 69, of Cambridge passed away peacefully at Coastal Hospice at the Lake on Sunday, September 27, 2009. Mr. Hill was the son of the late Frederick Lee Hill and Miriam Lee Hill

He was a graduate of Coatesville High School in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. There he was awarded the Rensselaer medal in recognition of outstanding proficiency in high school science and mathematics. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Drexel University and a Masters degree in science and management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He spent his working career as a nuclear engineer. He worked in the Naval Reactor Program and on numerous Department of Energy Projects. He also worked as a consultant for many of our country's nuclear power plants and addressed engineering and quality assurance issues. He was a civilian consultant with Admiral Rickover's Nuclear Navy Program and worked directly for the Admiral on numerous occasions. He was also a Certified Financial Planner. Mr. Hill was actively involved in the boating community and was a coxswain in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and a former member of the power squadron

Mr. Hill is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dr. Angela Hill of Cambridge; a daughter Carolyn Ann Hill Bjerke and her husband Wayne of Manhattan, New York, a son Robert Brian Hill and his wife Michelle of Rockville, Maryland. He has five grandchildren: Layla, Leena, Hayden and Rylie Hill and Paige Bjerke. He was predeceased by a brother Frederick Lee Hill, Jr. of New Jersey

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 205 Maryland Avenue, Cambridge with Rev. Fred Bahr officiating. Family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2 p.m. A reception will follow the memorial service at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers and gifts, Don has requested donations be made in his name to Cambridge Christian Academy, 205 Maryland Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613.
