Donald O'Neal Jones, Sr.

Donald O. Jones, Sr., 79, of Salem passed away on Monday, September 21, 2015 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He was born in Wingate on January 21, 1936 and was a son of the late Willie Force Jones and Norma Bramble Jones.

Mr. Jones attended school in Crapo. He served in the Army National Guard. Mr. Jones was employed with the Dorchester County Roads Board, where he retired. He enjoyed listening to country music and spending time with his family and friends and local politics.

He is survived by a son Donald O. Jones, Jr. and wife Randi of Cambridge, two daughters Donna J. Cecil and husband Phil of Cambridge and Clara Ann Brewer and husband Bill of Still Pond, grandchildren Billie Jo Heister, Jessica Lewis, Ryan Burton, Tony Cecil, Matt Brewer, Tom Brewer, Kara Ann Jones, Ashley Quicke and Megan Helsel, 18 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Jones is preceded in death by three brothers Thomas Jones, Brady Jones, Wilson Jones and a sister Betty Hurley.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Burton, Matt Brewer, Tom Brewer, Jed Lewis, Billy Short, Wes Short, William "Duck" Parks and Jay Jones.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor George W. Wheatley, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
