Donald F. "Duck" Peters

Donald F. "Duck" Peters, 73, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was born in Cambridge on August 12, 1939 and was a son of the late Ralph H. and Ruth Lowe Peters.

Duck attended and graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1958. He was an outstanding athlete and was a running back for the Cambridge Raiders. Duck also attended Baltimore Junior College for one year. He served in the U.S. Army and also had served two years in the Army Reserve. Duck was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years as a mail carrier and after retiring, he worked part time with his brother Bob at B&B Floor Covering. He enjoyed gardening, harness racing, antiques, NASCAR, fishing, cooking and refinishing furniture. Duck also loved his family and eating steamed crabs. Duck was a member of the American Legion Post 91 and Choptank Memorial Post 7460 VFW. He is survived by three children Donald N. Peters and wife Joanie of Cambridge, Ryan Peters of Cambridge and Donna Jean Peters of England, a granddaughter Courtney Peters, two sisters Madeline Parker of Cambridge and Joan Johnson and husband Ladd of Cambridge, brother Sidney Peters of Washington, DC and his brother and best friend Robert Peters and wife Bonnie of Secretary, his companion of 12 years Emma Brown of Easton, his ex-wife of 27 years Arlene Peters of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Peters is preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Lee Peters.

Pallbearers will be Donald Peters, Ryan Peters, Robert Peters, Ladd Johnson, Bill Baumgartner, Richard Blake and Charles McMahan.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. David L. Kreek officiating. Interment will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 1120 G Street NW, Suite 700, Washington, DC 20005.
