Donald S. Ruark, 81, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Chesapeake Woods Center. He was born in Hoopersville on March 8, 1936 and was a son of the late Horace and Sue Ruark.
Mr. Ruark attended schools in Hoopers Island. On May 28, 1971, he married the former Shirley Fultz, who passed away on October 25, 2012. He was a waterman his entire life and enjoyed fishing and crabbing.
He is survived by his children Ray Raines (Carolyn), Bonnie Moore, Shirley Marshall (Rex), Jane Dorman (Sonny), Pat MacDonald (Kenny), Laurence Walter, Jr., Donna Kibbe (Marty) and James Walter (Gayle), 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 3 great great granddaughter, a sister Karen Ruark of Hoopersville and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Ruark is preceded in death by a daughter Diane Walter, daughter in law Tina Walter, son in law Lowell Moore, granddaughter Kate E. Kibbe, four sisters Gertrude Brittingham, Emily Ruark, Nancy Robbins and Betty Middleton, three brothers Horace Ruark, Jr., Freddie Ruark and Ralph Ruark.
Pallbearers will be Rex Marshall, Sr., Sonny Dorman, Marty Kibbe, Kenny MacDonald, Jimmy Walter and Lawrence Walter.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 1 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Douglas M. Ridley officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
