Donald Wayne Stanton, Sr., 65, of Hudson passed away at his home after a long battle of illnesses on Sunday, October 5, 2014. Born on December 11, 1948 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Pearl and Charlotte Wickham Stanton.
He attended local schools in Baltimore, where he started working at a young age in Lexington Market Deli and Jack's Corned Beef in the 1960's. In the 1970's, he worked at Rheb's Candy Company, where he stayed until moving to West Virginia. Then in 2009, he moved to Cambridge to be with his family.
He is survived by his companion Anna Hayward of Hudson, along with his four children Kim Cochran Brown and son in law John Brown of Hudson, Curtis Stanton and wife Kim of Cambridge, Donald W. Stanton, Jr. and wife Terry of Tennessee, Robert Stanton and wife Becky of North Carolina, thirteen grandchildren Jeffrey Cochran and wife Donna, Joey Brown, Christopher Brown and wife Jessie, Amy Mitchell, Ariel Brown, Brittany Stanton, Megan Stanton, Bradley Stanton and Karlee Stanton all of Cambridge, Wayne Stanton III and Bradley Stanton of Tennessee, Zack and Dustin Stanton of North Carolina, six great grandchildren Krista, Rusty and Daniel Tyler, Kayleigh True, Brysen Tilghman and due any day Christopher Brown, Jr. all of Cambridge, as well as two brothers and several nieces and nephews. RIP Gummpy. We'll miss you. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
