Donald R. Stevens, Sr., 95 of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at William Hill Manor in Easton. He was born in Cambridge on April 7, 1919 and was a son of the late Herman and Edna Jackson Stevens.
He graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1936. On October 21, 1944, he married the former Virginia Willey who passed away on June 12, 1991. Mr. Stevens was owner/operator of Eastern Service Corporation in Cambridge for over 70 years. He was an avid reader and loved harness racing. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Grand National Waterfowl and a director emeritus at the National Bank of Cambridge.
He is survived by two sons Donald Stevens, Jr. and wife Beth of Easton and David Stevens and wife Fran of Cambridge, three grandchildren David Stevens, Jr. and wife Amber, Jordan Stevens and Mathew Stevens, two great grandchildren David Stevens III and Scarlett Stevens, a brother Herman Stevens and wife Nettie Belle Stevens of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Rev. Sumner Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Cambridge Lions Club, P.O. Box 104, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to the Cambridge Quota Club, P.O. Box 1236, Cambridge, MD 21613.
