Doris Mae Todd

Doris Mae Todd, 78 of East New Market, passed away at her home on Sunday September 7, 2008. She was born in Cambridge on July 19, 1930 and was a daughter of the late Russell M. and Mary Smith Rosetta.

She attended schools in Cambridge. On January 3, 1948 she was married to Reginald P. Todd, Sr. Doris Mae had worked at a number of restaurants in the area including the Two Mile House and Willey's in Cambridge as well as Shuffler's in Trappe. For the past 29 years she has operated Doris Mae's Restaurant in downtown Cambridge. She had a strong following of locals as well as tourists who made sure they would stop by her restaurant to eat. The restaurant had been featured on WBOC and also in the Baltimore Magazine and the Chesapeake Bay Magazine. Doris Mae enjoyed listening to Mel Price on the radio, and doing word search puzzles. She was stricken suddenly at her home on Sunday afternoon where she passed away.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years Reginald P. Todd, Sr., two daughters Pamela J. Pitt and her husband Dennis Pitt of Hurlock, Glenda L. Wroten of Cambridge, one son Reginald P. Todd, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth Todd of Federalsburg, three granddaughters Melissa Larmore and her husband Matt Larmore of Trappe, Sandra Todd of Federalsburg, Jennifer Orris of Seaford, DE and one grandson Christopher Abbott of Cambridge. She is also survived by a great grandson Jake Hughes and a great granddaughter Destiny Crum, one sister Laura Willey of Cambridge, one brother Tony Rosetta and his wife Evelyn Rosetta of Taylors Island and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter Sandra Todd Russell, three sisters Mary Hurley, Ruth Ann Dunn and Judy Rosetta Rue and one brother Russell J. Rosetta.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Jerry Wade and the Rev. David Wooten officiating. Interment will follow at the East New Market Cemetery. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dorchester Co. Humane Society, P.O. Box 132, Cambridge, MD 21613. Pallbearers will be Reginald P. Todd, Jr., Dennis Pitt, Melissa Larmore, Christopher Abbott, Matt Larmore and Tony Rosetta.
