Dorothy Anna (Gooch) Burton

Dorothy A. Burton, 95, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at UMSMC at Dorchester. She was born in Baltimore on June 5, 1922 and was a daughter of the late Frank and Anna Klunk Gooch.

Mrs. Burton graduated from school in Baltimore. On August 10, 1942, she married Robert Julian Burton, Sr., who passed away on August 30, 1988. She was employed in her family business Tri County Trenching. Mrs. Burton enjoyed reading and playing bingo. She was a past member of Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary, and American Legion Post 91 Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by four grandchildren Lynn Goris, Melissa DeLuca, Brandon Burton, and Courtney Travers, numerous great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Burton is preceded in death by three children Robert Burton, Jr., Gail Robbins and Mark Burton, her two sisters Beth Satterfield and Mary Burton.

A private service will be held at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery near Hurlock. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimers Association, 909 Progress Circle Ste. 400, Salisbury, MD 21804. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
