Dorothy R. Warfield, 82, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. She was born in the Neck District on September 11, 1926 and was a daughter of the late Albanus and Elsie Ruark.
Mrs. Warfield graduated from Cambridge High School. On May 18, 1945 she married Calvin L. Warfield. He passed away on February 28, 2005. She worked for Dorset Laundry and Cleaners which became Sunshine Laundry until she retired in 2001. She enjoyed reading, but the true joys of her life were her family and the people of the Neck District. Mrs. Warfield was a member of Spedden United Methodist Church for over 60 years and sang in the choir for over fifty. She enjoyed helping at the Apple Festival and with the dinners at the Neck District Volunteer Fire Company.
She is survived by a son Ronald Warfield and his wife Dottie of Salisbury, two grandsons Christopher Warfield of Salisbury and Bradley Warfield of Salisbury and a great grandson Bradley Warfield of Ecuador, South America. Also surviving Mrs. Warfield is her special brother-in-law and his wife, John and Mary Frances Warfield and a life-long friend, Mildred Seward.
Pallbearers will be J.R. Wilson, David Marshall, Sr., David Marshall, Jr., Ratcliffe Wheatley, Thelman Wittstadt and Fred Pomeroy.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Pam Bockart officiating. Burial will follow at Spedden Seward Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
