Dorothy “Dot” Bradley Simms, 86, of East New Market passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at UMSMC at Dorchester. She was born in Sharptown on June 9, 1928 and was a daughter of the late Reginald H. and Alice Howard Wingate.
Dot attended schools in Dorchester County. On December 24, 1944, she married John Thomas Milton Bradley, who passed away on August 8, 1985. On July 19, 1986, she married Clark I. Simms, Jr., who passed away on November 19, 2014. She was a homemaker. Dot enjoyed gardening, reading, shopping and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a devoted member of Jubilee Christian Fellowship.
Dot is survived by two sons T. Milton Bradley and wife JoAnn of Salisbury and Johnny D. Bradley and wife Linda of Salisbury, a daughter Dottie Dukes and husband Tim of Laurel, DE, a stepson Clark I. Simms III and wife Cheryl of Rhodesdale, two step daughters Dottie Redington and husband Marty of Dagsboro, DE and Alison Walt and husband David of Laurel, DE, six grandchildren, six step grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husbands, Dot is preceded in death by three brothers Reginald “Buddy” Wingate, Jr., Jack W. Wingate and Walter Ray Wingate and a sister Nelda Roe.
Pallbearers will be Jordan Stack, Tom Meredith, Rory Badger, Matt Risher, George Wharton and Ryan Simms.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 12 p.m. at Jubilee Christian Fellowship in Cambridge with Pastor George W. Wheatley, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Jubilee Christian Fellowship, P.O. Box 202, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
