Earl J. Outten, 80, of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Chesapeake Woods Center. He was born in Pocomoke on October 8, 1928 and was a son of the late Maurice J. and Sadie F. Elliott Outten.
Mr. Outten attended schools in Somerset County. On April 25, 1946 he married the former Anna Mae Handley. She passed away on April 26, 2008. He was a truck driver and retired in 1993 as a supervisor at Coldwater Seafood. He was an avid coin collector and antique collector. Mr. Outten was a member of Souls Harbor Church of God.
He is survived by two daughters Sue Walston and husband Wayne of Cleveland, TN and Kay Koski of Cambridge, three grandchildren Valerie Cook Eenhuis of Phoenix, AZ, Stephanie Walston Robinson of Cleveland, TN and Matthew B. Walston of Cleveland, TN, two great grandchildren, one brother Paul Outten of Kingston, MD and a sister Bernice Brewer of Burlington, NC and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and his parents, Mr. Outten is preceded in death by three brothers Maurice Outten, Jr., Carl Outten and Robert Outten.
Pallbearers will be Brad Lednum, Allen Nelson, Phillip Pruitt, Dennis Handley, David Handley, Jr. and Johnny Rossy.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 6, 2009 at noon at Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with Rev. J. Edward King and Rev. Philip Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
