Edward Willey, 91, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Mallard Bay Care Center. He was born in Cambridge on August 27, 1921 to the late Charles E. and Ethel Elzey Willey.
He attended school in Dorchester County. On October 21, 1939 Mr. Willey married the former Audrey O. Parker, who passed away on March 21, 2012. They were married for 72 years. He worked as a foreman for Charles E. Brohawn & Sons. His career in construction spanned over 45 years and included projects throughout the Eastern Shore, including schools, hospitals, courthouses etc. Mr. Willey was also a master carpenter and after retirement was well known in the community for his saw sharpening business. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and being with his family. Mr. Willey was a member of Jubilee Christian Fellowship Church.
Mr. Willey is survived by his son Gerald Willey and wife Faye of Huntingtown, MD, a daughter Vera Long and husband Dick of Derby, VT, four grandchildren Von Willey, Ed Willey, Richie Long and Kim Luthy, eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Willey is preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters Susie Handley, Katherine Henning, Evelyn Robbins, Dorothy Burton, Rommie Willey, Roy Willey, Ralph Willey and Owens Willey.
Pallbearers will be Carroll Handley, Richie Long, Ed Willey, Dean Willey, John Luthy and Phillip Willey.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. George W. Wheatley, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Jubilee Christian Fellowship Church, P.O.
