Eileen H. Majors

Eileen H. Majors, 95 of Cambridge, passed away at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge on Monday, February 21, 2011. She was born in Cambridge on April 11, 1915, and was a daughter of the late Granville Harrison and Nettie Elizabeth Collins Hales, Sr. She attended schools in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School. She also attended and graduated from Salisbury Normal School. Some years ago she taught second grade at Academy School in Cambridge for about 20 years. On August 11, 1956 she was married to H. Leon Majors, Sr. Mr. Majors passed away on July 16, 1985. Mrs. Majors had been a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Cambridge since 1925, where she taught Sunday School and had also been a member of the Crescent Class. She had also been Children's Choir Director at Zion Church. Mrs. Majors enjoyed swimming at the YMCA and had been a member of the Red Hat Club as well as the Good Timers Club. She had been in failing health for the past month when she passed away early Monday morning.

Survivors include two daughters Marylea M. Willey and her husband Wallace M. Willey of Cambridge and Irene M. Howard and her husband G. Edwin Howard, Jr. of Hudson, a daughter in law Christine Kidd of Cambridge, eight grandchildren H. Leon Majors III and his wife Pam of Hebron, Ruth Donaldson and her husband Mark of Cambridge, Kenneth Majors and his wife Tonya of Ohio, Jeanne Bromwell and her husband Darren Bromwell of Cambridge, Gregory L. Willey of East New Market, Edward L. Howard and his wife Lisa of Cambridge, Brian Majors and his wife Geri Majors of Stevensville and Susan Owens and her husband Bruce Owens of Cambridge, nine great grandchildren Ben Majors, Lori Feather, Tommy Majors, Eddie Howard, Zack Howard, Meagan Owens, Stephanie Majors, Jamie Majors, Kyle Bromwell, one great great grandchild Gabriel Feather, one sister Beverly Moricle of Burlington, NC, a sister in law, Barbara Hales of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two sons H. Leon Majors, Jr. and Wilson H. Majors, two sisters Elizabeth "Libby" Gould and Janet "Bootsie" McDaniel, one brother Granville H. Hales, Jr. and one grand daughter Elizabeth Ann Majors.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. William B. Davis officiating. Interment will follow at the Cambridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. Memorial contributions may be made to the Endowment Fund of Zion United Methodist Church, 612 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613. Pallbearers will be H. Leon Majors III, Kenny Majors, Edward L. Howard, Brian Majors, Greg Willey, Bruce Owens, Darren Bromwell and Mark Donaldson.
