Elizabeth S. Dodson

Elizabeth S. Dodson, 91 of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at UMSMC at Dorchester. She was born in Bucks County, PA on August 27, 1923 and was a daughter of the late Caleb Alexander Simmons and Mary Cousins Simmons.

She attended schools in Lakesville. On June 10, 1948, she married Gilbert F. Dodson. Mrs. Dodson was employed at one time with Phillips Can Company in Cambridge and later she became a full time homemaker and a mother. She enjoyed traveling, puzzles, quilting and crocheting. Mrs. Dodson was a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea and later St. Mary Refuge of Sinners Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband Gilbert Dodson of Cambridge, four children Wallace Dodson and wife Sandy of Cambridge, George Dodson and wife Patricia of Newport News, VA, Joyce Malik of Cambridge and Brenda Dill and husband Ralph of Cambridge, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a brother Robert Simmons of Cambridge and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Dodson is preceded in death by a brother John Simmons, five sisters Mary Hollander, Florence Turner, Dorothy Belanga, Sara Gootee and Ruth Willey and a great granddaughter Karoline Dodson.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Refuge of Sinners Catholic Church in Cambridge with Father William Lawler officiating. Interment will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Mary Refuge of Sinners, P.O. Box 218, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
