Elizabeth Bucklin Flemming, 99, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 27, 2010. She was born in Providence, RI, on March 11, 1911, the daughter of the late Daniel Dailey and Emmaline Cornelia Webb Bucklin.
She received her AB Degree in Economics from Pembroke College (Brown University) in Providence in 1934. On January 1, 1937, she married John Ellsworth Flemming; they celebrated their 65th anniversary on January 1, 2002. Mr. Flemming passed away on January 2, 2002. Mrs. Flemming had been an active volunteer in many community services and was a member of the Junior League of Summit, New Jersey, where she was a long time resident. She had resided on Taylor's Island, MD, since 2005. Mrs. Flemming enjoyed being a housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan F. Kirkpatrick, and her life-partner, John Battista, of Taylor's Island, MD; a son, John E. Flemming, III, and his wife Valerie, of Green Cove Springs, FL; four grandchildren: Jason M. Kirkpatrick and his wife, Rachel; Elizabeth F. Ricker and her husband, David; Valerie Jill Tsiamis and her husband, Arthur; and David W. Flemming and his wife, Malacie. Mrs. Flemming is also survived by 10 great- grandchildren: Jacob, Kathryn, Brian, Alyssa, Daniel, Yianni, Nikolas, Eleni, Landon, and Jackson.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday May 8, 2010, at Swan Point Cemetery, in Providence, RI. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., in Cambridge, MD.
