Elizabeth M. "Betty" McNamara

Elizabeth M. "Betty" McNamara, 85 of Ragged Point, near Cambridge, passed away at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge on Monday, January 10, 2011. She was born at Hills Point on August 8, 1925, and was a daughter of the late Robert C. and Ella Irene Condon Marshall.

She attended schools at Hills Point and also in Cambridge. During WW II she had worked in Baltimore. On December 20, 1950 she was married to Vernon F. McNamara. Betty had worked at National Can Co. and went to work at Airpax for many years until she retired in 1972. She was a member of Spedden United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed painting, reading, crocheting and being around the water. She had been in failing health for several months and had been a resident at Chesapeake Woods Center since September where she passed away early Monday morning.

Survivors include her husband Vernon F. McNamara of Ragged Point, one son Joseph Edward McNamara and his wife Elizabeth "Beth" McNamara of Ft. Orange, Florida, two grandchildren Benjamin E. McNamara and Ian M. McNamara. She is also survived by a sister Mildred Bradshaw of Cambridge, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister Irene James and two brothers William Marshall and Walter Marshall.

A funeral service will be held on Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. Pam Bockart officiating. Interment will follow at the East New Market Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Thursday. Pallbearers will be Roy Bradshaw, Randall Bradshaw, Robert Bradshaw, Marshall Wingate, Robert Cannon and Robert Condon.
