Ellen J. Sellers, 83 of Cambridge, passed away on Wednesday January 12, 2011 at the Mallard Bay Care Center in Cambridge. She was born in Baltimore on September 16, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Slaman and Alice Cowan Jaber. She attended schools in Baltimore. On January 24, 1948 she was married to Robert K. Sellers, Jr. Mr. Sellers passed away on November 19, 2004. She had worked in the family business, Glenmore Motors in Baltimore for a number of years, and later worked for the Jeffersonian Newspaper in Towson and also at Beltone Hearing Aids in Bel Air. Mrs. Sellers and her husband moved to Hickory, in Harford County in 1978, where they realized their lifelong dream of restoring an old homestead. They were active members of the Steppingstone Museum. Mrs. Sellers attended Emory United Methodist Church in Street, Maryland. She loved her dogs and cat and enjoyed gardening. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren, traveling with friends and family, and spending time at the beach. In 2001, she and her husband moved to Cambridge, Maryland, where she was an active member of the Eastern Shore Hospital Center Auxiliary. Mrs. Sellers had been in failing health for the past two years and had been a resident at the Mallard Bay Care Center since March of 2009 where she passed away on Wednesday. Survivors include two sons Robert K. Sellers III and his wife Mary P. Sellers of Cambridge and Daniel A. Sellers and his wife Sarah Sellers of Baltimore, four grandchildren Donald Sellers and Katie Sellers of Cambridge and Lydia Sellers and Gabriel Sellers of Baltimore, two nieces Ellen Hurdel and her husband Paul, Kathy Bell and husband Douglas, one great niece and one great nephew and their families, and special friends Patsy Hanley of Hickory, MD, and Michelle Bassler of Philadelphia, PA. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a brother Richard A. Jaber and a niece Lynn Beckwith. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Candlelight Inn, 1835 Frederick Road, Baltimore, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Shore Hospital Center Auxiliary, P.O. Box 800, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A.
