Elmer Lewis

Elmer Lewis, 84, of Cambridge passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014 at his home. He was born in Linkwood on March 28, 1930 to the late William K. and Mary Clark Lewis.

Mr. Lewis attended schools in Cambridge. He served in the Maryland Army National Guard for 10 years. He worked for DuPont for 10 years. In 1965, Elmer opened Lawson’s Confectionary on Race St. and then opened Elmer’s Confectionary on Locust St. in Cambridge which he owned for 28 years. Mr. Lewis also worked for Kay's at the Airport until he retired in 2012. Elmer married the former Nancy L. Foxwell on May 7, 1973. He enjoyed working out in his yard, watching racing and sports and he was an avid New York Yankees fan for many years.

Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife of 41 years Nancy Lewis, two daughters Tricia Lednum of Cambridge and Tammy Field of Cambridge, four step children Robbie Foxwell, Cynde Parker, Kenny Foxwell and Jeff Foxwell, a sister Gladys Rose McWilliams of Cambridge, ten grandchildren Kim Finelli, Lee Lednum, Ashleigh Hoeprich, Patrick Parker, Dakota Field, Katy Wooten, Joshua Alcocer, Jonathan Alcocer, Hunter Foxwell, Katie Foxwell, Jeffrey Foxwell II, Samantha Foxwell, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son Thomas E. Lewis, two sisters Mildred Robbins and Cecilia Gillan and five brothers Clark H. Lewis, William K. Lewis, Jr., Eldridge Lewis, Melvin Lewis and Thomas Lewis.

A funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to the Kitty City Rescue, P.O. Box 1259, Cambridge, MD 21613,or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A.
