Elsie R. Callison

Elsie R. Callison, 89 of Cambridge, passed away at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge on Wednesday December 9, 2009. She was born at Robbins on September 29, 1920, and was a son of the late Otis and Mattie Robbins Robbins.

She attended schools in Cambridge. She had graduated from nursing school in Harrisburg where she received her LPN. For a number of years she had worked as a LPN at a State Hospital in Harrisburg, and later worked at the Glasgow Nursing Home and also worked at the Eastern Shore Hospital Center in Cambridge until she retired in 1982. On July 8, 1963 she was married to Clayton Wade Callison. Mr. Callison passed away on April 13, 1988. Mrs. Callison was a member of Bucktown United Methodist Church where she had been a member of the United Methodist Women and had served as church treasurer for a number of years. She had been in failing health for several years, and had been a resident at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge for the past year where she passed away on Wednesday afternoon.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews, a sister in law Pauline Robbins of Cambridge and a brother in law William F. Waldis of Cambridge and her favorite caregiver Vanessa Saunders of Cambridge. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by three sisters Alice Lowe, Lottie Love and Doris Waldis, two brothers Luke Robbins and Earl Robbins and a niece Beth Elzey.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. with the Rev. Mary Ann Farnell officiating. Interment will follow at the Bucktown Churchyard. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service.
