Elsie M. Hubbard, 76, of Cambridge passed away on Monday, June 8, 2009 at University Of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. She was born in Crocheron on February 23, 1933 and was a daughter of the late Charles McGlaughlin and Edith Robinson Shenton.
Ms. Hubbard attended school in Dorchester County. She worked at Western Publishing Company until she retired. Ms. Hubbard loved her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bingo and watching wrestling. Ms. Hubbard was a past member of the Salvation Army.
She is survived by seven children Alvin Hubbard, Jr. and wife Brenda, Laura Thomas and husband William, Allen Hubbard and wife Helen, Betty Darling and husband Kenny, Iris Slacum all of Cambridge, Trudy Foxwell and husband Steve of East New Market and Judy Dyer and husband Richard of Delaware and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Ms. Hubbard is preceded in death by two brothers Charles McGlaughlin and John McGlaughlin and two sisters Nancy Lee McGlaughlin and Betty Kimmey.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 2 p.m. at East New Market Cemetery with Rev. J. Edward King officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 635 W. Lexington Street, Baltimore, MD 21201. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
