Emerson T. Bramble, Sr., 85, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Dorchester General Hospital. He was born in Bishops Head on January 1, 1927 and was a son of the late Charles T. and Oneita Dayton Bramble.
Mr. Bramble attended schools in Dorchester County. On May 21, 1945, he married the former Bettie Harrison. On June 11, 1945 he joined the U. S. Army during WW II and was stationed in Europe. On December 9, 1946 he was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant in Company F, 6th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron. Mr. Bramble had worked at Mowbray Dayton Body Shop for 15 years, was part owner of Atlantic Adjusters and later was employed with Mullaney Insurance Company, where he retired at the age of 84. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, boating and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He had been a member of Grace United Methodist Church since March 29, 1953, where he had served as a past chairman of the Trustees. Mr. Bramble was an exempt member of Rescue Fire Company for over 30 years, a member of Choptank Memorial Post 7460 VFW, the American Legion Post 91 and the Cambridge Lodge #1272, B.P.O.E. Elks where he was a member for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife Bettie H. Bramble of Cambridge, a son Emerson T. Bramble, Jr. of Salisbury, a grandson Emerson T. Bramble III and his companion Jannelle Tran of Denton, two great grandchildren Jackson Wade Bramble and Theodore Louis Bramble, two brothers Charles R. Bramble and wife Dorothy of Cambridge and L. Donald Bramble and wife Peggy of Oklahoma, a sister Peggy Bramble and husband John of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Bramble is preceded in death by two brothers Frederick Bramble and Irvin C. Bramble, Sr. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at noon at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Christina Blake and Rev. Thomas Hurley officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, c/o the Baraca Class, 501 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to the Baywater Animal Rescue, 4930 Bucktown Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
