Ernest F. Miller

Ernest F. Miller, 74 of Taylors Island, formerly of Madison, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 26, 2010. He was born in Laurel, MD on August 8, 1935, and was a son of the late Lee Dorset and Jessie Laverne Landon Miller. He attended schools in Bladensburg and graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1955. On February 3, 1956 he was married to the former Betty Jean Thompson. She passed away on July 15, 2008. Mr. Miller had worked as a sheet metal worker and later was a business agent for Local Union 100 Sheet Metal Workers and from 1974 until he retired in 1995 he worked as an organizer for Sheet Metal Workers International Assoc. Mr. & Ms. Miller moved to Madison in 1977. Mr. Miller enjoyed golfing and wood working as well as hunting and fishing. He was a former member of Cambridge Lodge No. 1272 BPOE. Mr. Miller had been in failing health for the past six weeks when he passed away on Saturday evening. Survivors include a daughter Sherry Willey and her husband Tom Willey of Taylors Island, a son Dennis Miller and wife Wendy Miller of Fredericksburg, VA , three grandchildren Tommy Willey, Danielle Grogg and Kyle Willey, three great grandchildren Angelina Grogg, Bryan Grogg and Alexis Willey, one sister Joan Johnson of Myrtle Beach, S.C., three brothers Andrew Miller of Laurel, Leo Miller of Glenelg, Jerry Miller of Washington State and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. and during the hour preceding the service. Pallbearers will be Danielle Grogg, Wendy Miller, Kim Cochran, Martha Allen, Tom Willey, Tommy Willey, Courtney Seabreese and Kyle Willey.
