Ethel R. Rippons, 96, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Chesapeake Woods Center. She was born in Crocheron on May 26, 1921 and was a daughter of the late Chris and Mary Smith Walter.
Mrs. Rippons attended schools in Crocheron. She worked for several shirt factories and crab houses. Most of her life she was a homemaker. In 1965, she married Herbert “Joe” Rippons, who passed away on May 25, 1976. Mrs. Rippons was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son Jack Walter, Sr. and wife Brenda of Fishing Creek, a granddaughter Jill Segar and husband Jason of Cambridge, two grandsons Jack Walter, Jr. of California, Jason Walter and wife Jennifer of Hurlock, three great grandchildren Christopher Walter, Kayla Walter and Nicholas Walter, three step children Benny Rippons, Burt Rippons and Debbie Rippons. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Rippons is preceded in death by two brothers Theodore Walter and Brice Walter, a sister Erma Todd and a step son Tony Rippons.
Pallbearers will be Leroy Rippons, Ricky Rippons, Chris Walters, Doug Walters, Buddy Malone and Jackie Bennett.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 1 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Randall T. Blackmon officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
