Evelyn Jean Davidson, 65, of East New Market passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Dorchester General Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Cambridge on November 30, 1944 and was a daughter of the late John R. and Mary Audrey Adams Phillips.


Evelyn attended and graduated from South Dorchester High School class of 1962. She and her daughter also attended and graduated in 1996 with honors from Chesapeake College receiving their AA Degrees in Paralegal Studies. She worked in several occupational fields including positions at Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company, Princess Lanes Bowling Alley, and was the owner of Craft Corner in downtown Cambridge. Evelyn also worked for the Dorchester County District Court, Mid Shore Well Drilling and was the Town Clerk for the Town of East New Market during four different administrations until she retired due to health reasons in 2007. She enjoyed many forms of crafting, but was especially talented in sewing and quilting. She was devoted to her family and pets and was an avid reader of crime mysteries. She had a great passion for life and laughter and was loved by all who knew her.


She is survived by a daughter Tammy L. Burns and fiancAC.e Chip Fleming of East New Market, a brother John R. "Jackie" Phillips and wife Linda of Golden Hill and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Ms. Davidson is preceded in death by a sister Connie Perry and two special aunts Helen and Gertrude Adams.


Pallbearers will be Robert Insley, Chris Nagel, Lingan Spicer, Denny Todd, Greg Wampler and Hugh Carter Vinson.


A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 4, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Joe Kelley officiating. Burial will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Kitty City Rescue, P.O. Box 1259, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to the East New Market Volunteer Fire Company Building Fund, P.O. Box 280, East New Market, MD 21631.
