Evelyn R. Moore

Evelyn R. Moore, 87, of Wingate, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at UMSMC at Dorchester. She was born on March 20, 1927 and was a daughter of the late Winnie H. and Edna Webb Jones.

Evelyn attended schools in Wingate. In 1945, she married the late Hilliston O'Neil Moore, who passed away in 1968. Mrs. Moore worked as a crab picker for Dorchester Crab Company for more than 40 years. She enjoyed playing bingo and was a member of the Wingate United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Moore is survived by a daughter Charlotte Meyer and husband David of Cambridge, a son Hilliston O'Neil "Billy" Moore, Jr. of Wingate, one grandson Derrick Moore, a great-grandson Joshua David Meyer, a great-great grandson Aiden Meyer, a brother Thomas H. Jones and wife Janice and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a grandson Perry David Meyer, Jr., a brother Eldred Jones, a sister Alene Lewis and a brother in law Irving Lewis.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. David L. Kreek officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
