Evelyn Jean Outten

E. Jean Outten, 82 of Vienna, passed away on Saturday April 2, 2011 at Harbor Pointe in Salisbury. She was born in Vienna on August 1, 1928 and was a daughter of the late Leon S. and Marguerite M. Baumgartner Oliphant.

She attended schools in Vienna and graduated from Vienna High School. On October 3, 1945 she was married to William Fleming Outten, Sr. Mr. Outten passed away on August 24, 1988. Mrs. Outten worked as a secretary for Farm Bureau and also as Clerk for the Town of Vienna. She had later driven the Bookmobile for the Dorchester County Library. Mrs. Outten was a member of the Vienna United Methodist Church, Vienna Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and the Dorchester Co. Farm Bureau. Mrs. Outten had been in failing health for the past two years when she passed away on Saturday morning.

Survivors include a son William F. Outten, Jr. and wife Debbie Outten of Vienna, two daughters Stephanie Bradshaw and husband Alan Bradshaw of Cambridge and Suzanne Wright of Linkwood, six grandchildren Tammy Bradshaw, Leah Bradshaw, Angela Thomas, Lannette Tyler, Jennifer L. Hoffman and William F. Outten III, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother in law Randall Murphy, a close companion Ted Malkus and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a sister Eleanor Murphy.

A funeral service will be held on Monday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. James Bongard and the Rev. Mary Ann Farnell officiating. Interment will follow at the Oliphant Family Cemetery near Vienna. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service. Pallbearers will be Daniel Mowbray, Alan Bradshaw, Seth Thomas, William Outten Fleming III, John Thomas, Jamie McFarlane and Tim Jewell.
