Florence D. (Doege) Murphy

Florence D. Murphy, 87, of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Chesapeake Woods in Cambridge. She was born in Cambridge on December 31, 1934 and was a daughter of the late Freddie A. and Rosalie Twilley Doege.

Mrs. Murphy graduated from Cambridge High School and graduated from nursing school in Baltimore. On November 19, 1954, she married William H. Murphy, who passed away on April 16, 2006. She worked at Dorchester General Hospital over 30 years and later worked at several nursing homes including Chesapeake Woods. She enjoyed cooking, NASCAR, gardening and watching football.

She is survived by two sons Robert H. Murphy and wife Susan of Salisbury and J. Russell Murphy and wife Marcy of Cambridge, a granddaughter Brittney Lake and husband Nathan of Cambridge, a great granddaughter Aria Lake, a brother Freddie Doege and wife Mary of Cambridge, special friends Donna Era, Michaela Connolly, Karen Ballinghoff and Delilah Farrish, Joyce Ewell, Robin Brittingham and Gloria Fraizer who passed away on July 5th and several nieces and nephew. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Murphy is preceded in death by two sons Freddie William Murphy and Richard A. Murphy and a brother William H. Doege.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022 at 11 am at Dorchester Memorial Park with Rev. Mark Farnell officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to Kitty City Rescue, P.O. Box 1259 Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
