Frances I. Murphy, 74, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Berlin Nursing Home. She was born in Cambridge on June 19, 1939 and was a daughter of the late Edgar and Beulah Taylor Burton.
She attended schools in Cambridge. On July 28, 1956, she married Melvin A. Murphy who passed away on August 28, 2004. In earlier years, she worked as a dietary aide at the Eastern Shore State Hospital Center, but most her life, she was a homemaker. Frances enjoyed wood crafts and shopping.
She is survived by a son Eddie Murphy and wife Debbie of Cambridge, three daughters Judy Klein and husband Dave of Hurlock, Teresa Webb of Cambridge and Penny Windsor of Cambridge, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two sisters Kay Harding and husband Bobby of Reids Grove and Peggy Stanfield of St. Michaels, a brother Marvin Richardson of Trappe, her companion Vernon Lowe of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Frances is preceded in death by a daughter Kimberley Murphy and a brother Kenneth Richardson.
Pallbearers will be Henry VanDyke, David Foxwell, Jr., Donald Windsor, Ben Murphy, Dusty Collison and David Klein.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Mary Ann Farnell officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
