Frances Burton (Burton) Phillips

Frances B. Phillips, 83, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at UMSMC at Dorchester. She was born in Cambridge on February 12, 1932 and was a daughter of the late John Lee Burton and Mabel Moore Burton.

She graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1949. On October 15, 1949, she married Russell E. Phillips, Sr. who passed away on January 1, 2014. Mrs. Phillips had worked at several different businesses, but later retired from Airpax. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, shopping and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Phillips was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons James “Ronnie” Phillips and wife Susan of Cambridge, Terry Phillips and wife Cathy of Cambridge and Russell “Rusty” Phillips and wife Sheri of East New Market, twelve grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, a daughter in law Sharon Phillips of Cambridge, and three nephews. Besides her husband, Mrs. Phillips is preceded in death by a son Jay Phillips, a granddaughter Amy Phillips, a brother Luther Burton, a sister Lorraine Short and a daughter in law Debbi Barnes Phillips.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cambridge with Pastor Steve Trice and Rev. Randall T. Blackmon officiating. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church, 501 Glenburn Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
