Frances A. Eskridge, 94, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Mallard Bay Care Center. She was born in East New Market on April 23, 1927 and was a daughter of the late William McGinn and Hazel Tubman Messick.
Mrs. Eskridge graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1944. After high school, she immediately enrolled at the Georgia Maude Training School of Beauty Cultures in Baltimore, where she graduated and passed the State Board in 1946. She returned to Cambridge where she managed The Royal Blue Salon for several years, before owning her salon for over 20 years. In August of 1947, she married Ernest Ellis Eskridge, who passed away on November 20, 2020. Mrs. Eskridge enjoyed reading, needle point and playing Bridge. She was a 70 plus year member of Zion United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son Ernie Eskridge and wife Karla, a granddaughter Emily Eskridge, a sister Sybil Jones, a brother Kenneth Edgar and wife Judy and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Eskridge is preceded in death by a brother T. William “Bill” McGinn, sister in law Anna Ruth McGinn and a brother in law Donald Jones.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 1 pm at East New Market Cemetery with Rev. Tonya McClain officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Zion United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, 612 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
