Francis S. "Frank" Hossbach

Francis S. "Frank" Hossbach, Jr., 91 of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Chesapeake Woods Center. He was born in Baltimore on December 24, 1920 and was a son of the late Francis S. Hossbach, Sr. and Elizabeth MacDonald Hossbach.

He attended schools in Baltimore and graduated from City College in 1939. After graduating from high school he served in the Merchant Marine for six months with a tour of Europe and South America. He enlisted in the US Aviation Cadet Army Air Corps for four years. On March 28, 1942 he was married to the former Isabelle Fisher. She passed away on February 12, 2010. He worked for the C&P Telephone Co. for 40 years and retired as a supervisor. He was a communicant at St. John's Chapel, President of the Executive Committee, a member of the Cambridge Lodge No. 66 A.F. & A.M. just shy of 70 years. He enjoyed woodworking, sailing, crabbing and was an avid reader.

He is survived by a daughter Frances H. Brannock and her husband Terry L. Brannock of Cambridge, a son Bryan Scott Hossbach and his wife Nancy Ellen Hossbach of Largo, Florida, four grandchildren Bryanne Jones, Heath Hossbach, Hank Brannock and Thomas Brannock, three great grandchildren Caleb, Isabelle and Judson Jones. He is also survived by two brothers Wallace Hossbach of Baltimore, James Hossbach of South Carolina and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Anita Rever and Betty Lazarus.

Pallbearers will be members of the Cambridge Lodge No. 66 A.F. & A.M. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Higgs, Doug Parks, Barrett Jones, Hank Brannock, David Ridgly and Bill Gootee.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 1p.m. at St. John's Chapel in Cornersville with The Rev. Heather E. Cook officiating. Interment will follow at the St. John's Churchyard where a masonic service will take place. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John's Chapel, c/o James Lewis, 1213 Hudson Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
