Franklin L. Hoge, 88, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014 at Mallard Bay Care Center. He was born in Cambridge on December 11, 1925 and was a son of the late Otto H. and Ida Fleischman Hoge.
He graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1942 where he served as class treasurer. Mr. Hoge served in the U.S Navy during WWII. On December 18, 1964, he married the former Edna Mae Robinson. He was vice president at The National Bank of Cambridge where he retired in 1991. Mr. Hoge enjoyed politics, gardening and was an avid sports fan. He was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ and American Legion Post #91 and a past member of the Cambridge Lions Club and the Cambridge Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Edna Mae Hoge of Cambridge, a son Allen Hoge and wife Diane of Cambridge, a daughter Diana Brooks and husband Jack of Cambridge, four grandchildren Renee Merritt and husband Richard, Jessica Kostelac and husband Justin, Clay Brooks and wife Lisa, Matthew Brooks and wife Amanda, five great grandchildren Josie Kostelac, Jack Kostelac, Juliette Kostelac, Clayton Brooks, Vaughn Brooks and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Hoge is preceded in death by three brothers Carlos Hoge, Vernon Hoge, Earle Hoge and a sister Ottilee Anderson.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Brooks, Clay Brooks, Richard Merritt, Justin Kostelac, Gene Skinner and Pat Weber.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Immanuel United Church of Christ with Pastor Dale Krotee officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Immanuel United Church of Christ, 5401 Whitehall Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
