Freida B. Brohawn, 88, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, October 19, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Griffiths Neck on August 27, 1924 and was a daughter of the late Howard A. Bradshaw and Beatrice Murphy Bradshaw.
She was raised in Dorchester County and graduated from Vienna High School class of 1941. Mrs. Brohawn, then attended the Baltimore Business School in Baltimore, MD. She worked at Montgomery Ward in Baltimore for three years as a secretary. She then returned to Cambridge and married Howard V. Brohawn, Sr. on February 19, 1946. After raising her children she went to work at Sears Roebuck & Company as the Audit Manager. She worked for thirty one and a half years and retired in 1987. After retiring from Sears, she worked for Lifetime Masonry part time for about five years until her husband suffered a stroke. After her husband passed away in 1998, she went back to work for Lifetime Masonry part time. At the same time she was working part time for her niece Sylvia Brohawn's tax office. Mrs. Brohawn enjoyed reading, cooking and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Brohawn is survived by four children Howard V. Brohawn, Jr. and wife Diane of East New Market, Marie Vickers and husband George of East New Market, Linda Robertson and husband William of Seaford and Gail Jones and husband Michael of Annapolis, seven grandchildren Matthew Brohawn and wife Beth of Laurel, DE, Johnnie C. Rossy III of Cambridge, Charles L. Brohawn and wife Debbie of Federalsburg, Jennifer Schuler and husband Keith of Easton, Deborah Layton and husband Chris of Delmar, MD, Denise Vickers and friend Steve Magee of Salisbury and Donna Vickers and friend Troy Wood of Flagstaff, Arizona. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Charles L. Brohawn III, Emma Brohawn, Alexandra Trego, Caroline Schuler, Martin Sanchez, Quinn Wood, McCabe Wood, Colin Wood, Alexis Layton and Kendall Brohawn. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Charles L. Brohawn, a sister Betty Hurley Friedhoff and two brothers Warren J. Bradshaw and Jackson Bradshaw.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Brohawn, Johnnie C. Rossy III, Charles Brohawn, Michael Jones, Michael Hurley and Doug Scofield.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor Dave Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
