Frieda D. Gould, 97, formerly of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Caroline Nursing Home. She was born in East New Market on September 6, 1912 and was a daughter of the late Frank and Barbara Fuchs Diskau.
She graduated from East New Market High School in 1930. On July 30, 1934 she was married to John B. Gould. Mr. Gould passed away in January of 1961. For a number of years Mrs. Gould had worked as a saleslady at F.W. Woolworth's in Wilmington, and also in Cambridge. She had also worked at Bambrick's Drug Store in Cambridge, and later she had worked at Richardson's Style Shop in Cambridge. Mrs. Gould was a member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cambridge, where she had sung in the Choir. She was also a member of the Ladies Guild of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church. Mrs. Gould had also been a member of the Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary as well as the Eastern Shore Hospital Center Auxiliary. Mrs. Gould had been a resident at the Caroline Nursing Home in Denton for the past three years where she passed away on Tuesday morning.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by eight sisters Alma D. Leonard, Alvina D. Jackson, Rose Kurth, Ida Krueger, Martha Marshall, Ann Wieland, Dora LeCompte and Emma D. Hoffman, and two brothers Carl H. Diskau, William Diskau.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 PM at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church on Race Street in Cambridge with Pastor Ray Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Shepherd Luthern Church, 1312 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
