Gail E. Combs

Gail E. Combs, 74, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. She was born in Cambridge on January 24, 1949 and was a daughter of the late Jesse Mack Combs and Gladys Hall Elzey.

Gail graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1967. She continued her education by going to nursing school and received her LPN and later her RN. Gail worked at the Eastern Shore State Hospital Center from 1973 to 1986 and from 2003 to 2011 and from 1986 to 2003 she worked for the Delmarva Foundation. Gail enjoyed woodworking, doing home improvements, and going swimming at the YMCA. She also played and coached softball and loved her animals. She was also a member of the YMCA. Gail was a member of Faith Baptist Fellowship where she sang in the choir.

She was a unique individual. She loved family, church and her Lord Jesus. Gail lived to give of her time and talents. She called other cancer patients with words of encouragement.

Gail was a fun loving soul and looked forward with excitement to her yearly family reunion in North Carolina.

She is survived by a sister Debbie Harris and husband Danny of Ocean City, a nephew James Andrysiak and wife Kathy of Arnold, MD, a niece Amber Harris of Cambridge, a great nephew Jonathan Jones of Cambridge, very special friend Lynne Marshall of Cambridge, “her boy” Maddox Ewing of Easton, and numerous very special cousins. Besides her parents, Ms. Combs is preceded in death by a brother Jefferson Wayne Elzey.

Pallbearers will be members of Faith Baptist Fellowship.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 1 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Randall T. Blackmon officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Faith Baptist Fellowship, 1312 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to Baywater Animal Rescue, 4930 Bucktown Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
