G. Edwin Howard, Jr.

G. Edwin Howard, Jr., 73, of Hudson passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. He was born in Cambridge on September 23, 1944 and was a son of the late George Edwin Howard, Sr. and Carolyn Sanders Howard.

He graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1962. Mr. Howard continued his education and graduated from Baltimore Institute in Accounting in 1964, and in 1981, he graduated from Salisbury State with a Bachelor of Science. On January 16, 1965, he married Irene Majors. Mr. Howard served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1968 during Vietnam and was stationed in Germany. He was a Maryland State Employee in Accounting for over 30 years. Mr. Howard enjoyed fishing, crabbing and his grandchildren. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, where he served on various committees, Cambridge Lodge #66 AF&AM, where he was a Past Master, a member of the Tidewater Farm Club, he served on the Spedden Seward Cemetery Committee, Dorchester Ruritan’s, American Legion Post #91, Cambridge Rescue Fire Company, and a former member of Gideon’s International.

He is survived by his wife Irene M. Howard of Hudson, a son Edward L. Howard, Sr. and wife Lisa of Hudson, a daughter Susan Howard of Hudson, three grandchildren Edward L. Howard, Jr. and wife Ashley, Zachary C. Howard, and Meagan E. Owens all of Hudson, and a great grandchild to be born at any time. He is also survived by two brothers Keith S. Howard and wife Karla of Hudson and Robert C. Howard of Hudson and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Edward Howard, Jr., Zachary Howard, McKenna Dean, Justin Howard, Bryant Howard, and Greg Howard.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11 am at Zion United Methodist Church in Cambridge with Pastor Michael Hurley officiating. Interment will follow at Spedden Seward Cemetery. Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with a Masonic Service at 7 pm.
