George E. Hollerman, Jr

George E. Hollerman, Jr., 82, of East New Market passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He was born in Bridgeton, N.J. on April 11, 1929 and was a son of the late George E. and Helen Clark Hollerman.

He attended schools in East New Market. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and received his honorable discharge in 1952. On July 1, 1953 he married the former Sylvia Betts. He worked for Continental Can Company in Hurlock and retired after 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and woodworking. He was a member of the American Legion Post 243 in Hurlock and a lifetime member of the Federalsburg VFW Post 5246.

He is survived by his wife Sylvia B. Hollerman of East New Market, three children George E. Hollerman III of East New Market, Lisa Hollerman of Sharptown and Scott Hollerman of Odenton, 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Hollerman is preceded in death by brothers and Sisters, Doris J. Page, Robert J. Hollerman, Robert C. Hollerman, Helen Harding, Louis Hollerman and Betty Sander.

Pallbearers will be Scott Hollerman, Jr., Stephen Hollerman, Sean Hollerman, Kevin Hollerman, Eddie Hollerman IV and Matthew Wingate.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Michael Reddig officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Easton. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Association of Maryland, 209 E. Market Street, Salisbury, MD 21804.
