George J. “Jimmy” Hoffman, 80, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Talbot Hospice in Easton. He was born in Cambridge on January 2, 1939 and was a son of the late George James Hoffman, Sr. and Elsie McWilliams Hoffman.
Mr. Hoffman graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1957. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1958. Mr. Hoffman worked for Overnite Transportation and retired in 2000 and then worked part time at Pep-Up. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, history and listening to 50's music. Mr. Hoffman was a lifetime member of Rescue Fire Company, the Cambridge Elks, and a member of the American Legion Post 91.
He is survived by his wife Evangeline Hoffman of Cambridge, three daughters Julie Petza and husband John of Huntersville, NC, Renee Hoffman and her partner Lisa of Frankford, DE and Jessica Hall and husband Bryan of Easton, six grandchildren Gannon Petza, Jennifer Williams, Jamie Petza, Charles Willey, Christine Willey and Evan Hall, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Hoffman is preceded in death by a sister Vera Coughlin and a great grandson Trent Williams.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Hall, Charles Willey, Charlie Hennigar, John Petza, Adam Pritchett, Billy Dayton, Jimmy Dayton and Matt Ross. Honorary pallbearer will be Jayden Willey.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at 2 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Paul Dieter officiating. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Drive, Easton, MD 21601.
