Gertrude Mae (Horseman) Sears

Gertrude Mae Sears, 91, of Secretary passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Mallard Bay Care Center. She was born in Cambridge on December 21, 1925 and was a daughter of the late Carroll and Winifred Corbman Horseman.

Mrs. Sears graduated from Cambridge High School. On December 24, 1941, she married Louis E. Sears, Sr., who passed away on April 20, 2000. She was a seamstress for Rob Roy for 26 years and later at the Eastern Shore State Hospital as a dietary Aide for 11 years. Mrs. Sears enjoyed gardening, reading and cooking.

She is survived by four children Sharon Herd and husband William of Chestertown, Beatrice Jones and husband George of Union Grove, NC, Louis Sears, Jr. and wife Michelle of Taylors Island and David Sears and wife Jan of Secretary, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Sears is preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and a grandson Christopher Sears.

Family will receive friend on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 2 to 4 at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., 700 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 to help defray funeral cost.
