Glenn L. Burgess, 77, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Chesapeake Woods Center. He was born in Easton on February 20, 1938 to the late Leon R. and Anna V. Haddaway Burgess.

Mr. Burgess graduated from St. Michaels High School class of 1957. In the 60’s he raced Corvettes. He married the former Paula Daffin on July 18, 1984. Glenn loved anything to do with music whether he was playing or teaching. He played with Lights of Home and Cawley Combo just to name a few; he also played at the Radio City Music Hall. Mr. Burgess enjoyed fishing, carpentry, spending time with his family but most of all he loved to play and teach many stringed instruments.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 31 years Paula of Cambridge, children Crystal Marie Pierce McKinnon of Chester, Marti Burgess Young and husband Roni of Madison, Michael L. Burgess and wife Sherri of Bridgeville, DE, Lyn Jones and husband Wendell of Glen Burnie, Michael A. Shorter and wife Amber of Easton, Kristoffer Shorter and wife Bobbi Jo of Cambridge, Katie Sue Shorter of St. Michaels,  Anna Burgess and companion Josh Woodard of Secretary, Stephanie Merritt and husband JP of Fruitland and John "Styx" Stanford of Silver Spring, grandchildren Colin McKinnon, Sgt. Joshua Bridges and wife Grace, Krystyne M. Young, Jennifer Hightower, Mary Hacker, Brandon S. Evans and wife Kelsey, Adam Jones, Matthew Jones, Ian Shorter, Peyton Shorter, Mitchell Shorter, Ransom Shorter, Serenity Shorter, Ethan Arquette, Christopher Robinson, Susie Robinson, Nicholas Merritt, John Stanford, Jr., Deanna Stanford and Danielle Stanford, 11 great grandchildren and one more on the way, brother Dale Burgess and wife Alice of Greensboro, a nephew D.R. Burgess, a special niece Kimberly Ann Rivas and best friend Timmy Dobson of Easton. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter Rhonda Burgess, a great grandchild Jordan Stanford and a nephew Troy Burgess. The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff at Chesapeake Woods Center for all the great care they gave Glenn.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., 700 Locust St., Cambridge, MD, 21613 to help defray the funeral costs.
