East New Market, MD -- Gordon Lee Bugby, formerly of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton. He was 83. He was born in Youngstown Ohio December 4, 1932 to the late Horatio Milo Bugby and Veva Case Bugby. He graduated from Campbell Memorial High School, Class of 1950. He served two years in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He married Jeannette Raby of St. Pauls, North Carolina in January 1955. Gordon graduated from Youngstown University in June of 1962 with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree after 12 years of full and part time study. He was registered as a Professional Engineer in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Maryland. Gordon worked for 18 years in various engineering positions related to the steel industry, beginning at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube in Struthers, Ohio through several positions winding up with the United States Steel Corporation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The final 12 years of his engineering career was with the University of Pittsburgh; Facilities Management Division.
Upon retirement in 1997 the Bugbys moved to an unfinished house in Dorchester County, Maryland near Cambridge where they spent time finishing and adding to the house and developing the property. Volunteer time was spent at Blackwater NWR, Pleasant Day Adult Day Care Center and the Dorchester Center of the Arts. A lot of this time was spent playing keyboard music featuring the golden oldies.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeannette (Raby) Bugby of East New Market, Maryland, a brother, David S. Bugby and wife Jill of Easton, Pennsylvania, a son Randall M. Bugby and wife Kathy Finney of Springfield Virginia, daughters Audrey Young and husband Daniel of Richmond Virginia, Suzanne Hamel and husband Russell of Milford Delaware, and Margot Bugby of Tuscan Arizona. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Evan Young, Aaron Young, Kelly Foster, Shannon Foster, Daniel Bugby and Yana Bugby.
