Granville F. McCollister, 82, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015 at his home. He was born in Cambridge on August 4, 1932 and was a son of the late Thomas and Mabel Meyer McCollister.
He attended schools in Cambridge. Mr. McCollister was owner/operator of his Granville McCollister Butcher Shop. In 1960, he married the former Charlotte Brusso, who passed away on December 22, 1998. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, crabbing and loved animals. Mr. McCollister was a past member of Choptank Memorial Post #7460 VFW.
He is survived by a brother Russell McCollister of Cambridge, nieces and nephews Carl McCollister, Jr., Alice Keyes, Steve McCollister, Debbie Fleetwood, David Gadow, Dennis McCollister, and Diane Murphy and several great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Mr. McCollister is preceded in death by four brothers Carl McCollister, Howard McCollister, Eldridge McCollister and D’Arcy McCollister, a sister Clara Gadow and a niece Ruth Ann Nichols.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery with Rev. David L. Kreek officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Antioch United Methodist Church, c/o Susan Meredith, 2073 Dailsville Road, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to ones choice. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
