Hazel L. Cheesman

June 15, 1919 — October 7, 2011

Hazel L. Cheesman, 92 of Cambridge passed away on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Mallard Bay Care Center. She was born in Dorchester County on June 15, 1919 and was a daughter of the late Ottie W. and Nora Greene Mills.

She attended school in Madison. On December 8, 1935 she married Russell E. Cheesman. He passed away on March 5, 2003. She worked for Rob Roy and retired in 1965. She was a member of Madison United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter Janie Adkins and husband John of Cambridge, a son Tommy Cheesman and wife Barbara of Hollywood, MD, four grandchildren John Adkins, Jr. and wife Carol of Federalsburg, Tammy Robinson and husband Bill of Federalsburg, Thomas Adkins and wife Erin of Massachusetts and Vicki Flowers and husband Mark of the Western Shore, four great grandchildren, a brother Ottie W. Mills, Jr. of Madison. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Cheesman is preceded in death by a brother Harvey Mills.

Pallbearers will be Barry Adkins, Tom Adkins, Johnny Adkins, Bill Robinson, Mark Flowers and Leroy Willey.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Robert G. Kirkley officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Madison United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Margaret Trego, 4610 White Marsh Road, Madison, Maryland 21648.
