Helen S. Borga

Helen S. Borga, 96 of Cambridge, passed away at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge on Saturday August 21, 2010. She was born in Cambridge on July 30, 1914, and was a daughter of the late Alfred J. and Lula Wingate Stack.

She attended schools in Cambridge. She was married to Paul F. Borga. Mr. Borga passed away on April 13, 1971. As a young woman she had worked at WT Grant's in Baltimore. She later worked at Rob Roy Shirt Factory in Cambridge. Mrs. Borga enjoyed cooking, going to yard sales, antiquing and taking care of her flowers. Mrs. Borga was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had been a resident at Chesapeake Woods Center for almost four years where she passed away on Saturday morning.

Survivors include five daughters Bonnie Crismond and her husband Ray Crismond of Cambridge, Darlene Wroten of Cambridge, Wanda Mills and her husband Danny Mills of Cambridge, Dolly Holliday of LaVerne, CA and Billie Borga and her companion Trippe VanDyke of Perry, LA, ten grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by three special caregivers Nancy Hudson, Jean Newcomb and Shannon Dawson. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a great granddaughter Rachael Shaw, two sisters Gladys Kyle and Isabelle Fox and two brothers Russell G. Stack and William W. Stack, a son in law George H. Wroten and a longtime companion of Dolly Holliday, Sammy Messina.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the East New Market Cemetery with Rev. John H. Merritt officiating. Pallbearers will be Monty Holliday, Buster Mowbray, Kim Wright, Courtney Saunders, April Freeman and Shawn Crismond. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Doris Weber, 5163 Maple Dam Road, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to Rescue Fire Co. Inc, P.O. Box 776, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
