Helen Price Dawson, age 100, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Mallard Bay Care Center. She was born in Cambridge on July 10, 1915 and was a daughter of the late Wm. Davis (Capt. Dave) Price, Sr. and Linda Ozman Price. Mrs. Dawson received her education from the public schools in Cambridge. On November 25, 1931 she married Harry E. Dawson who died on September 10, 1992.
In the late 60’s, Helen was a Crossing Guard at East Cambridge Elementary School, a position in which she took great pride. She was well respected by the school staff, the students and their parents. Later, she worked part-time at Leggett Department Store, followed by part-time employment at Herbert Hearn Hardware in their Gift Department. She enjoyed all these jobs because she truly was a “people person”. She liked reading, watching TV, and gardening with her husband Harry in earlier years. She did beautiful needlework, of which her family was the appreciative recipients. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida and Tennessee with her daughter Harriette and son-in-law Norris. Helen was a member of Countryside Christian Church where she volunteered many hours until her failing health prevented her continuing it. As a volunteer, in the early 1940’s, she joined other PTA mothers in preparing lunches at the Academy School, where her daughter Harriette was a student, long before the School had a cafeteria.
She is survived by daughter Harriette Hall (Norris) of Dover, DE; and their adopted daughter Mary Lynn Cameron (Donald, Jr.) of Secretary, MD. Additional survivors are grandchildren: Nancy Hall Coleman (Timothy) of Dover, DE; Curtis Hall (Cheryl) of Fair Hill, MD and Janet Cameron Hill of Cambridge, MD. There are seven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren along with nephews, nieces, cousins and a life-time of friends. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Dawson is preceded in death by two brothers, baby brother, Robert L. Price; Edward Price and his wife Florence “Floss” Price, who was like a sister to her. Additionally she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Doris Hall Heasley in 2010.
