Helen M. Fitzhugh

Helen M. Fitzhugh, 74, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Chesapeake Woods Center. She was born in Smithville on April 3, 1938 to the late Willie H. and Marie E. Baker Towers.
Mrs. Fitzhugh attended schools in Caroline County, Federalsburg and Preston. She married Gordon M. Fitzhugh on March 21, 1959. She worked as a custodian at Airpax for 20 years and retired June 1, 2000. Mrs. Fitzhugh enjoyed cooking, shopping, gardening, and loved to spend time with her family and dog Barney.
She is survived by her husband Gordon M. Fitzhugh of Cambridge, one son Joseph M. Fitzhugh and wife Jackie of Crapo, two daughters Donna M. Baker of La Plata, MD, and Deborah A. Haliw and husband Michael of Pasadena, MD, five grandchildren Denise Fitzhugh, Brenton Haliw, Jeremy Haliw, Ariel M. Baker, Joseph R. Fitzhugh, Joshua M. Fitzhugh, and four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Fitzhugh, Joseph Gray, Joshua Fitzhugh, Brenton Haliw, Jeff Cusick, and Chuck Cusick.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 12:30 at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. George W. Wheatley, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
