Helen L. Webb, 86 of Woolford, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2011 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. She was born in Baltimore on August 19, 1924, and was a daughter of the late George Washington and Dora Lena LeCompte Langrall.
She attended schools in Cambridge, and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1943. She was first married to Marvin Dewitt Groves. After they were married, they made their home in St. Augustine, Florida for several years. She moved back to Cambridge in 1951 and on December 26, 1952 was married to Vernon M. Webb. Mr. Webb passed away on January 4, 2010. Mrs. Webb graduated from the Eastern Shore State Hospital School of Nursing in 1959, and had worked as a Health Nurse at Maces Lane High School in 1967 and 1968. Mrs. Webb later did private duty nursing until she retired in the early 1980's. She had attended Milton United Methodist Church at Woolford, and enjoyed gardening, playing Bingo, attending monthly luncheons with her classmates and spending time with her family. Mrs. Webb had been in failing health since January of 2010 and had been at the Coastal Hospice at the Lake one week when she passed away on Monday afternoon.
Survivors include one daughter Vicki A. Lewis of Woolford, three sons, Barry D. Groves and his wife Jeannie M. Groves of Cambridge, Terry L. Groves and his wife Dinah T. Groves of Woolford and Vernon M. Webb, Jr. and his wife Merry Webb of Cambridge, eight grandchildren Renee Masaracchia of Cambridge, Jacqueline Hunteman and her husband Michael Hunteman of East New Market, Jessica Darrow and her husband Jason Darrow of Richlands, NC, Brian Lewis of East New Market, Nicole Evans and her husband Chris Evans of Dameron, MD, Zachary Webb of Cambridge, Jeremy Weber and his wife Monica Weber of Cambridge and Jason Weber and his wife Michelle Weber of Carthage, Missouri. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren Jillian Masaracchia of Cambridge, Dylan Perry, Logan Darrow and Nina Darrow all of Richlands, NC, Justin Lewis of East New Market, Carson Weber, Adelyn Rose Weber of Cambridge and Samuel Weber of Carthage, Missouri and her beloved dog Sweetie. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Katherine Marie Langrall.
A funeral service will be held on Friday August 12, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. with the Rev. Randall T. Blackmon officiating. Interment will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. Memorial contributions may be made to Coastal Hospice at the Lake, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802, or Dorchester Co. Relay For Life, c/o Mrs. Doris H. Weber, 5163 Maple Dam Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Mrs. Webb's grandsons will be pallbearers.
